After months of rumour and speculation, Google have finally revealed the new version of their operating system – Android 4.3 Jellybean.

At a press event the technology giant revealed the new OS and announced that it will debut on the Nexus 7 tablet device. New Nexus 7s will come with Android 4.3 software pre-installed and it will also be available as an update for the Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and Galaxy Nexus.

Engadget reported that Android 4.3 will include a feature that will allow parents to control what content their children can access. Apps will behave differently depending on the parental restriction settings and in-game purchases can be blocked if parents wish.

Android 4.3 will also offer improved graphics for games with 3D objects being able to cast shadows and add lens flare, as well as being capable of streaming video from the website Netflix in 1080p resolution.

The launch comes ahead of the rumoured iOS 7 from rival Apple, with the company still refusing to confirm a release but industry sources hinting that it will debut in Autumn of this year.
