French manufacturer Alcatel has unveiled its new tablet, the OneTouch T10, which is in fact a 7-inch tablet aimed at rivalling the Google Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire in the mini-iPad stakes.

Alcatel is possibly better known for its budget phones and now it has unveiled its budget tablet, the Alcatel OneTouch T10. The 7-inch touchscreen display comes with a 800 x 480-pixel resolution in a standard 16:9 aspect ratio.

Shipping with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, with no word on when (or if) it will come offered with a 4.1 Jelly Bean update, the Alcatel OneTouch T10 is very much a budget tablet.

This can also be seen the choice of CPU, with a single core ARM Cortex A8 processor running at 1GHz and backed by 1GB of RAM. You’ll find the Alcatel OneTouch T10 comes with 4GB of internal storage, with the option to add up to 32GB extra courtesy of the MicroSD slot.

The 3000mAh battery offers up to 120 hours of standby time and up to four hours of use in standard mode. Other features include 802.11b/g/n WiFi and a 0.3-Megapixel front-mounted camera.

Perhaps the only surprising aspect of the Alcatel OneTouch T10 is that pricing starts at £159 (inc. VAT), which is a tad expensive when you look at the feature set and competition it’s going up against.

Would you opt for the Alcatel OneTouch T10 over the Google Nexus 7 or Amazon Kindle Fire? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
