Accessory maker lets slip more Nexus 5 launch hints

Google’s yet to announce the Nexus 5, a presumed second generation take on its smartphone business, but that hasn’t stopped third party accessory maker SPIGEN from hinting at its release date at the end of October.

The company, which specialises in cases for iOS and Android devices, has listed the release of a Nexus 5 case on Amazon, launching on October 31st. Obviously this isn’t a listing for the phone itself, but it would be a little redundant to release a case and then have nothing to actually attach it to. The company already has a history of giving away details on unannounced devices – it has previously leaked a high-resolution image of the iPhone 5C before its reveal, along with that name too. Just last month it also posted a render of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Needless to say this all lends this listing some credibility. That said, we had heard earlier today that the device could be launching two weeks earlier than this date.

It’s not the first leak the Nexus 5 has suffered, although news that the device has been through the FCC means that it might not have to put up with them for that much longer. Google recently refreshed its Nexus 7 tablet, so a new smartphone should be next in line. If the device really is to release next month then expect an official reveal in the coming weeks.
