0800 numbers to be free on mobile soon

Ofcom is aiming for a complete simplification of the UK’s phone system in the coming years. As part of that process, the company today announced something pretty great for 0800 numbers.

Said digitals will soon be free to dial even from UK mobiles. Previously they could not be reached free of charge on landline. The company has set a deadline of June 26th 2015 for everything to be sorted out, so hopefully you’ll be able to start calling 0800 on your smartphones for free.

As for the rest of the system? We don’t know the company’s plans for this ‘simplification’ just yet but we hope they’re, well, simple.
