Apple is releasing its toughest iPhone yet

The iPhone 6S Plus will apparently be tougher than the original, showing that Apple wants to avoid another potential Bendgate ruckus.

Last year iPhone 6 Plus users complained about their iPhone 6 Plus devices bending when placed in their pockets. A new rear shell designed for the 6 Plus could prevent this from happening to Apple’s next phablet. Future Supplier has reportedly got its hands on the shell and has said that it feels “smoother” and “stronger” than the iPhone 6 Plus.

These details match the comments Ming Chi Kuo of KGI Securities made last month. Kuo claimed that the 6S Plus will be equipped with the same 7000 Series aluminium worn by the Apple Watch Sport. This aluminium is supposedly 60 per cent strong than other aluminium materials, with one-third the density of stainless steel.

Further backing up reports of a stronger shell are previous suggestions that the iPhone 6S will be thicker than the iPhone 6. According to schematics seen on T3, the 6S will be 7.1mm thick.

Other rumoured changes hint at a sapphire glass display, improved camera and Force Touch taken from the new MacBook. Force Touch will allow users to make different commands based on the amount of pressure they use when touching the device’s screen.
