Indian manufacturer Karbonn to launch dual OS Windows and Android smartphones

Karbon Mobiles is set to launch dual OS (operating system) smartphones that run both Windows and Android.

Having recently completed a deal with Microsoft, the company will launch the new devices in its domestic Indian market in June. The company has yet to announce a price range for the handsets.

Karbonn, which at present sources all their products from Taiwan and Korea, is actively working on setting up a manufacturing unit in India, with a capacity to make one million phones a month.

Since last year, Microsoft has reportedly been open to the idea of  dual-booting smartphones, in  a bid to beef up its market share and challenge Android and iOS.

It also seems like Microsoft is embracing a more harmonious approach with Google’s Android OS. Nokia – a company that Microsoft is in the process of acquiring – recently unveiled the  Nokia X  family of devices that  run an operating system based on Android.
