Persuading people to break the ice at parties can be hard, at least until you fill them full of booze and put Oops Upside Your Head on the stereo.

MingleBird offers a classier way to get parties buzzing, by ‘gamifying’ them.

What that means is creating your event on the MingleBird website, then getting attendees to download this app. They then earn points for meeting and photographing one another, keeping the contacts afterwards. It’s a great idea, limited for now that only iPhones are supported – not great for the average party or conference.
