Version 4.0 of augmented reality game Zombies, Run! was released earlier last week. To celebrate, the game’s developers have dropped the game’s flat fee for a free-to-play subscription model.

This new pricing model hasn’t affected the iOS and Android fitness app’s main premise. The app is aimed at joggers and runners who’s aim is to literally run away from the virtual undead in over 200 missions. Each mission takes place in a fictional post-apocalyptic world overrun with zombies.

There are currently four “seasons” available since the app debuted and more will likely become available in the future. The new pricing model will require users to pay $3 per month (or $20 per year) to get these updates.

Free users will have only get access to one mission a week outside of the first four from the first season. They’ll also be unable to access Airdrop or Interval Training missions, or change run difficulty or track workout stats.

Existing Zombies, Run! users

Existing users who bought the app before May 13th will have near full access to all the features. They can only run one mission a week from the last season, however, but will only be charged $8 per year if they want to subscribe.
