Windows Phone users can rejoice as the MeetMe social networking app has just arrived on the platform!
With the original MeetMe app debuting way back in 2009, it’s an important yet belated release for the decade old social media site. The app store continues to drudge along but with key releases like this, things can only continue to improve.
CEO Geoff Cook said, “We are excited to bring the MeetMe app to Windows Phone users. Before we launched the Windows app, approximately 10% of all mobile web sessions came from Windows Phone”.
The application will carry across all the dedicated features found in the iOS and Android versions, including real-time chat. The design will mirror those versions, with a navigation bar at the top and similar menu themes.
Even better, MeetMe has also confirmed that in addition to the application released in Store, they are planning to release an improved mobile web version of MeetMe for Windows Phone users. For those who don’t want to use the dedicated application, it’s nice to know the company rate considering alternatives.
This is fresh from the news that Windows Phone has just overtaken iOS in Pakistan to become the second-largest mobile operating system in the country. It seems their strategy of targeting developing markets is working to full effect.
You can download the new application now from the Windows Store, however it is currently only available for select devices. I’m using a Lumia 920 and it’s currently unavailable for my device, so it’s worth noting it may be region or device specific.
