WhatsApp BETA scores rare Windows Phone update

After the main application received a pretty substantial update two weeks ago, the BETA version appears to be getting some further love from the WhatsApp team.

It’s no lie that Microsoft is struggling to hold big developers on board, with key players such as Pintrest and Instagram either ceasing support entirely or leaving half- finished, ugly applications within the store. Support for the platform is a dime a dozen, so we’re pleased to say that one of the companies who continues to embrace the platform is WhatsApp. The company bills itself as the ultimate messaging application, which is probably why they strive to support older platforms so heavily. Hell, even the old Nokia Symbian S60 3rd edition is still supported by the team.

According to Italian Windows Phone website “Aggiornamenti Lumia“, WhatsApp pushed out an update for the BETA application which includes a new modern caller icon and the ability to hear voice notes while in call mode. This is on top of various general fixes aimed to improve the apps stability.

Obviously, WhatsApp BETA is a closed application that can only be downloaded if you were lucky enough to get picked as a tester. For the rest of us, you’ll need to wait for the features to trickle onto the release version. Little things like this continue to show their commitment to the platform, which is a good sign for fans of the popular messaging app.
