WATCH: Graphics comparison of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes across four different platforms

Fans of Konami’s legendary Metal Gear series are no doubt champing at the bit for its first next-gen instalment. The bad news is that there’s still no word on a release date for the title, with some sources claiming as late as the end of 2015. Yikes. But, there’s good news too. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is set to serve as an immediate prequel to the events of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (otherwise known as ‘the one that’s actually a full, comprehensive game’), and is all lined up for a late March release date.

The ethics of Ground Zeroes’ release may be slightly questionable, what with some testers claiming that its central story only takes two hours  to complete, but the chances are that rabid MGS fans won’t really care.

To get you (even more) hyped up for the game’s release, Konami have published a graphical comparison video to their YouTube channel. Within it we get a solid two minutes and 41 seconds of Big Boss scampering around a military base – but on four different platforms simultaneously. The Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One and PS4 are all displayed.

It certainly makes for interesting watching, as the various nips and tucks present on next-gen are just as interesting to see as how fantastic the previous generation’s visuals still look in their own right.

And for anyone who cares about the so-called ‘console war’…sorry, there doesn’t seem to be any difference at all between the footage on the One and the PS4, even running at YouTube’s 1080p.

If you’ve somehow made it this far without watching the footage, check it out at the top of the page.
