WATCH: Godfire: Rise of Prometheus has the best graphics we’ve ever seen (UPDATE: We have a release date!)

Here at What Mobile we don’t usually distract you with specific pieces featuring individual apps unless we think that you’re really, really going to like them. We think that you’re going to really, really like Godfire: Rise of Prometheus.

Put simply, this game looks absolutely unbelievable. Powered by the Unreal Engine, the fact that all of the footage provided in the trailer embedded above is taken directly from in-game (whether Android or iOS we can’t say), is a very exciting prospect.

If you’ve ever played any of the God of War series on PlayStation 2 or 3 then it should look rather familiar. In the mobile realm it also has a feint echo of the Infinity Blade trilogy about it, which is always a good thing.

In an industry packed to the brim with cartoonish pass-times and free-to-play scams, it’s exciting to see that some studios are taking the medium seriously.

Godfire is set to hit iOS and Android app stores this June, with an exact release date and price yet to be announced. For now though, take in the outrageous visuals and try not to die of excitement (no promises from our end).

UPDATE:  Godfire’s developer, Vivid Games, was  present at E3 2014 with its  shiny new title, and revealed a little bit more about it to us. For starters we have an official release date – June 19th on iPad and iPhone, with an Android release to follow later in the year.

We also now know a bit more about the game’s structure. Aside from the campaign mode, which makes up the bulk of the title, there’s also a ‘Survival Mode’ which sees you fight wave after of enemies to set the highest score possible.

Are you excited yet? We’re excited. Mark your calendars for next Thursday and get your wallets at the ready.
