Although Google’s upcoming collection of Android Wear wearables is rumoured to be revealed at its I/O conference on 25 June, the company has gradually been revealing official information about the OS that will be running on the devices.
To tease us a bit more, Google has now released a video that shows us more of the functions we can expect to see on the upcoming Android Wear smartwatches, including the LG G Watch and Motorolo Moto 360.
What’s interesting to note is that Google’s aim here is to further streamline the Android experience so it’s even better via the wearable device. That equals a simple home screen that responds to voice commands and talks back.
Another area detailed in the clip is ‘Stacks’. This feature is used to minimise clutter on the device. For example, if you’ve received six emails it will show the last one to come in on the top with a “+5” icon signalling that the others are below.
A feature called ‘Pages’ is like ‘Stacks’ but will give you more pages to read if you require them. So to use email again it might allow you to read through several pages of the email rather than simply notifying you of its appearance.
One of the voice command functions explained in the video is the option to reply to a message by simply saying “reply” and using your voice.
As previously mentioned, we can hopefully expect to see more of Android Wear and the smartwatches running the OS at Google’s upcoming I/O event later this month.
