Canonical always had an uphill battle when it came to raising the $32 million it needs to make the Ubuntu Edge smartphone, and it seems that after the 24 hour boom — sales have slowed, prompting a price drop.
The first 5,000 devices have already been sold for the limited time offer of $600, but now there are 3 more price points, all below the standard $830 standard level.
Those of you who have gone and purchased the more expensive tier, a number which had already reached the hundreds, have been downgraded to one of the new price points, with Canonical promising to refund the difference.
At $625, $675 and $725, the Ubuntu Edge does seem like a much more attractive preposition but it still has a long way to go before it becomes a reality.
