Uber offers Manchester and Leeds fancy taxi rides

When you want to arrive at a nightclub in luxury, a regular taxi or black cab just won’t cut it. Uber’s luxury EXEC option has been available in London for some time now, but partygoers in Manchester and Leeds can now experience the service for themselves.

Uber, the service that allows users to hail a taxi using its app, has now opened its UberEXEC option to those in Manchester and Leeds. The premium option allows users to hail a Mercedes E-Class, or similarly stylish car, to take them to a nightclub, date or their next meeting in style. This service has been added alongside Uber X, which offers a Toyota Prius or similar, and Uber XL, which supplies minivans.

Since being founded in 2009, Uber has increased its worth to an astonishing $40 billion. In the past, the service has caused London cabbies to protest against it, been accused by rivals of sabotage, and has even allowed users to order ice cream vans.

Uber’s impact

Uber is available in 56 countries. Over here in the UK, the service only covers London, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham, but the company’s online job listings suggest that the company plans to expand into other UK cities.
