This Android Smartphone has an insane 10,000mAh battery

Chinese Smartphone maker Oukitel is set to announce a new 5.5 inch handset that will feature an astronomic 10,000mAh battery.

Most of us think a 2500mAh battery is pretty impressive but have you ever considered a 10,000mAh battery? Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oukitel has managed a pretty phenomenal feat by squeezing 10,000mAh into a 5.5 inch device, though it looks like the herculean battery has impacted somewhat on its slimness.

Its a monster

The Oukitel K10000 is aptly named in honour of its huge battery, with the rest of the phone being fairly uninspiring. Judging by the images which were posted over at Neowin, the device looks like a brick, with harsh metal edges that wouldn’t look out of place on a gaming PC. Understated is definitely not a word you would use to describe it, though I was admittedly expecting far worse.

Bang in the middle

With a quad-core MediaTek MT6735, 2GB RAM and a 5.5-inch HD display, this puts it firmly in the mid-range of most devices. On the plus side, it runs on the newest version of Android Lollipop. Without any high end components, it should help it to perform even better in the power usage department. I wouldn’t be surprised if the phone can manage a 5 day working week on a single charge.

UK release

It’s highly unlikely that the device will ever make it over the UK shores but suffice to say nobody is going to be losing sleep over it. Still, it’s a fantastic example of just how much battery can be crammed into your typical 5.5 inch device. I’m sure that I’m not alone in saying that I’d happily take a few millimetres of extra thickness for a larger battery.
