Synaptic will be bringing pressure-sensitive screens to more phones via ClearForce.

Presently the only way to possess a phone with a pressure-sensitive screen is to buy an iPhone 6S. The only other option is the Huawei Mate S, which includes Synaptic’s ClearForce.

Trackpad specialists Synaptic have announced ClearForce which will bring the new feature to more smartphones and set pressure sensitive screens as a new industry standard. Pressure-sensitive screens are used to unlock phones, add new mechanics to games, zooming in pictures and even provide thicker lines when drawing with a stylus.

“This exciting next step in human interface for smartphones will soon become the norm and highlights Synaptic’s leadership in force,” said senior vice president, Kevin Barber.

Synaptic expect to launch ClearForce for all devices in early 2016.
