Spotify is launching a free version of its music streaming service for mobile devices, according to reports.

Currently free versions of the service, which inserts adverts in-between songs, are only available on desktop and laptop computers. The paid-for, ad-free mobile version costs £9.99 per month.

But according to the Wall Street Journal, Spotify has been in negotiations with major record companies such as Sony for over a year to change this.

The free mobile service is expected to launch on December 11. According to reports the service will be limited in terms of the number of songs users have access to.
