Sony could be about to unveil a new addition to their flagship Xperia line which features the worlds first 4K smartphone display.

With IFA fast approaching, Sony are expected launch a slew of new smartphones. One of them will apparently be the flagship Z5, which could include an eye-watering 4K screen. It’s expected to have a 5.5 inch screen and staggering resolution of 3840 x 2160, this equates to a ridiculous 801 pixels-per-inch. Squeezing in such a high resolution panel is a risky move, as consumers are rapidly favouring devices with better battery life and performance. This screen will surely effect battery life in a negative manner.

The leak was first spotted on the Sony Georgia Facebook page, which Sony later confirmed to be unofficial. Other rumoured specifications include a 23 megapixel camera sensor and fingerprint sensor, plus Android 6.0 Marshmallow as standard.

We’ll know the full details on September 2 when IFA rolls around.
