Sony cracking down on mobile leaks, wants to end them

If you’ve spent any time looking at our front page you’ll know that product leaks are commonplace in this industry. Sony is no stranger to this, having seen its recently-announced Xperia Z1 leaked online weeks before the actual announcement. As you might expect, the company isn’t happy about that, and has made it an aim to put a stop to it entirely.

Strict reminders about the company’s product prototype usage have been circulating around the company’s Japanese facilities, as seen below. Somewhat hilariously, these posters have leaked online. Oh Sony.

Prototypes being handled within the company are meant to be covered with a protective cover to prevent any images being taken. If the product is to be shown to the outside world, then those seeing it have to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement). Welcome to our world.

Still, we’re not entirely sure this will put an end to Sony’s leaky problems – no company, not even Apple, is immune to this sort of thing. And, at the end of the day, that’s a good thing for us, right?
