It’s pretty much confirmed that the S7 will have an “Always On Display.”
We heard about Samsung including this feature from Twitter leakster Evan Blass, who revealed the S7 will have this feature. The “Always On Screen” will be beneficial for users, displaying notifications, weather and S Health data among other things. It will reportedly use one percent of battery per hour, whether it will be full screen like Google’s Ambient Display or small like LG’s Glance View, remains to be seen.
Samsung are regular users of AMOLED displays so it’s a believable rumour that Samsung will include an “Always On Display.” An AMOLED display consumes less power, only illuminating pixels on-screen that are in use. Unlike LCD displays which backlights the entire screen.
While the idea is not really revolutionary, it’s a nice feature to have in Samsung’s upcoming flagship phone.
