Samsung teases Galaxy S8 launch in late March

Samsung has picked up their social media game ahead of the expected Galaxy S8 launch later this month.

The company has penned the date ‘03.29.2017’ for their annual Unpacked event, which usually sees the launch of a flagship handset. Samsung has traditionally done this at Mobile World Congress in the past, but this year chose to wait until after.

The event is expected to reveal the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8, which has been the victim of many leaks in the past few weeks. Earlier today, Twitter aficionado Evan Blass revealed a press render of the device which looks almost identical to the silhouettes Samsung is showing in teaser footage. The handset is expected to include a much larger screen which takes up the majority of the front panel, plus a bezel-less edge display as seen on previous handsets. The fingerprint sensor will be shifted to the rear, situated next to the camera sensor.

In terms of availability, the device is expected to go on sale in the last week of 28 April, costing £849. Samsung could also be considering ditching the standard S8 altogether, in favour of an edge display across the entire line. If this is true, the new devices are expected to be called ‘Galaxy S8’ and ‘Galaxy S8 Plus’. It will be available in three colour options: Black, Gold and Orchid Grey.
