The Samsung Galaxy S5, now with more metal

Okay, so the Samsung Galaxy S5 could be using a lovely new image sensor to improve on light sensitivity and colour fidelity. It could also be sporting a new metal casing to hold over its plastic predecessors.

Reports are coming in that the company has reached out to the manufacturers of the HTC One and iPad mini cases about bringing a metal case to its next smartphone. This is apparently part of an attempt to give the S5 a more premium feel, which is something that was lacking in the current model, the S4, which had a plastic casing that proved unpopular with the masses. As for which type of metal? The company is rumoured to have it down between aluminium and magnesium.

We still have a whole lot more to learn about the S5, although we’re starting to piece together an image. The S4 only launched this year so don’t expect a refresh until 2014.
