Remember flip phones? They were all the rage before the smartphone stole the spotlight, but they haven’t completely died out yet. At least not in Samsung’s books.
The FCC has listed a Samsung flip phone with the code SM-W2014. Rumours suggest that this is a dual-screened device with some impressive innards. It’s thought that there will be a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 inside, complete with 2GB of RAM. The rear-facing camera will be at 13 MP, while the front one will be a 2 MP snapper. Apparently it will even launch with Android 4.3.
It’s sounding pretty high-end for a flip phone, then, which makes us wonder… why bother? The screens themselves should be 3.67-inch, 480×800 resolution displays, which don’t really need that kind of power behind them. SAtill if you’re looking for a Samsung flip phone, we guess this is the best place to go.
It should weight in at 173 g and measure around 116.85 x 59.4 x 15.79 mm. We’ve got a few snaps of it below.
Right now it’s aimed for China all by itself. You probably shouldn’t expect to see it around these parts any time soon.
