The JuiceboomPro will be available for £34.99 from Juice.co.uk

With more of us having to change our holiday dissertations due to the current lockdown restrictions, more of us are heading to the UK’s countryside or beaches.

You may decide that you want to listen to some music, so having a portable speaker is an important addition to making any family gathering fun, because who doesn’t love dancing or having some background music.

In the review, we have the Juiceboom Pro Bluetooth speaker. This is the bigger brother of the Juiceboom 360 we recently reviewed.

The Juiceboom pro comes in at £34.99 which is not much more than its little brother at £29.99.

The key features of this speaker are:

  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • 360 degree sound
  • Can be used Horizontal or vertical
  • 2x 5-watt speakers
  • Available in Black

This speaker comes with 100% recyclable packaging and inside the packaging you get the speaker, a carry bag, 3.5mm AUX cable & Micro USB cable.

When reviewing this speaker I noticed its very similar design to another outdoor speaker I reviewed a few months ago the JBL Flip 4.

The Juiceboom Pro is a cylindrical, ruggedised design that has a fabric material that goes around the whole speaker. On each end of this speaker you have rubber end caps that are shaped to allow you to stand this speaker up.

Also at each end, you can see a 5watt speaker in the middle of that rubber end but sink back to protect the speakers.

The 2x 5-watt speakers and cylindrical design allow for a 360 degree sound experience as you can use this speaker either vertical as the speaker is placed on one of the rubberised ends or you can have it horizontal but it does not affect the sound as you have a raised rubber base.

Last but not least the speaker has a rubberised control panel that has the following controls:

  • = Volume Increase/ Skip Track
  • = Volume Decrease/ Previous track

️ = Play/Pause

Power Button

In the middle of the controls, you have a rubberised cover that when you open that you reveal the Micro USB port for charging, 3.5 mm jack for that wired connection and also a USB-A port and a memory card slot.

When you turn the speaker on you will also see an LED that is embedded in the rubber cover. This is a Blue light when you turn the speaker on and it flashes when you go into pairing mode.

The speaker comes with 15 hours of playtime thanks to a 2,000mAh battery and will charge from 0% to 100% in 3 hours. The Speaker comes with Bluetooth 5.0 and provides a 10-metre range which is ideal for outdoor use as you do not need to have your handset near the speaker in order to pump up the volume or change track.  What I found important about this speaker is its IPX5 rated meaning it can handle the odd splash poolside. However just don’t drop the speaker in the pool as its only water-resistant, not waterproof.

Sound quality for the JuiceBoom Pro offers a beefy bass but the mid-range is slightly off.  If the volume at max the sound can be a little muddled and can become a little distorted.

If you keep the volume at 50/60% volume then its a decent sound the bass protrudes from either end of the speaker with the overall sound pumping out of the middle of the speaker and as its speaker is 360 degrees around the speaker you will hear your music wherever you are in the room. The overall sound profile is not the best I have ever heard but for a Bluetooth speaker under the £50 mark keep your expectations low and you won’t be disappointed. This speaker is simply to play some tunes when you’re out and about and it does a good job.

So overall, would I buy this speaker? I would say yes it’s not very expensive and if you’re looking for a speaker that has a rugged feel that can be used vertically or horizontally and has a decent sound profile for the cost of the speaker. This speaker won’t replace your home audio system but it’s great when you’re down the park or chilling on the beach.

The fact it comes with IPX5 means it can even handle the odd pool splash if you’re using it by the outdoor pool we all got in that heatwave. I would have preferred some colour choices in the speaker but that might come in time. I would have also liked to have been able to connect to a second speaker for that stereo sound.

Apart from that if you want a speaker for your staycation on a budget price give the JuiceboomPro a try!
