While Microsoft has been busy upgrading PC’s to the anniversary update, that hasn’t stopped them toiling away on the upcoming ‘Redstone 2’ update for mobile.
Not to be ignored completely, Microsoft is currently preparing the Redstone 2 update which will go live to fast ring users in the coming weeks. This update will be several notable new features, including the rumoured ability to run Win32 applications natively on the device. This is all expected to be in preparation for the anticipated Surface Phone, which is rumoured to debut in April 2017 at the company’s annual Build conference.
Redstone 2 has some new sounds
While it’s still very early days and there’s little to talk about on the actual progress with Redstone 2, Italian Windows Phone website Aggiornementi Lumia managed to get their hands on an early build and post a sneaky video. The 17 second clip showcases some of the new notification sounds we can expect in the new build, which replace the previous sounds. Microsoft has changed the default sound to Windows Voice Messages, but this can be user replaced with anything they want.
Redstone 2 is expected to drop for Insider subscribers in the coming weeks, though it will initially be a fast ring update and thus quite buggy.
