PlayStation Explain – Sony details PS4 voice commands in new video

Well Xbox got the morning started with a Kinect cheat sheet, and now Sony’s followed up with a video demo for the PlayStation 4’s voice command systems. So let’s see PlayStation explain how it all works.

Voice controls work either through the mono-headset that comes with every PS4, or a PlayStation camera that’s sold separately (or included in some bundles), for around £60. Much like you must first address your Xbox by name before using voice commands, the PS4 requires you to say ‘PlayStation’ before issuing commands. You can then say the name of a game and simply say ‘start’ for it to boot up. Pretty simple stuff, really. You’ll also be able to switch users, return to the home screen from in-game  and take screenshots. And of course, turning the system on and off is also possible.

What you can’t do is go straight to Bing. Take that, Sony.

PlayStation explains more of the PS4’s features on its Access channel.
