Nokia has officially unveiled its first Windows Phone phablet, in the form of the Lumia 1520. It may seem like months since we first heard about the Lumia 1520, but now it’s officially real and it’s got most of the things we already knew about it.

The main difference with the Lumia 1520 is of course the 6-inch 1080p display, which is both larger and a higher resolution than every other Windows Phone before it.

The Lumia 1520 was only made possible thanks to Windows Phone GDR3, which enabled higher resolution displays and larger displays, bringing an extra row of Live Tiles along with it.

Nokia is of course very proud of its imaging prowess, especially after announcing the Lumia 1020, the 41-megapixel superphone, earlier this year. With the Lumia 1520 Nokia has once again updated its imaging software, with Nokia Pro Cam and Smart Cam being combined into one simple app — simply dubbed Nokia Camera. The Lumia 1520 will be the first of Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 devices to arrive with Nokia Camera preinstalled, but you should expect to see it arrive on other Lumia devices shortly.

To take advantage of the new Nokia Camera app, the Lumia 1520 has packed in a 20-megapixel camera sensor with a BSI f/2.4 Zeiss lens, with optical image stabilization, which despite being a step down from the 1020 should still pack a punch, with Nokia claiming that zooming and reframing is just as easy on the 1520 as it is on the 1020.

Other important features to come to the 1520 includes bringing the total number of microphones found on the device up to four, which of course means it supports stereo audio capture.  The Lumia 1520 will support micro SD cards, but the standard storage option will be 32GB.

The phone will launch in Europe and Asia later this quarter, for an unsubsidised price of $750.
