Nintendo has finally revealed Miitomo at an investors meeting in Tokyo. Miitomo is Nintendo’s first smartphone game.
The new game is the first of five mobile games promised by the Japanese games developer. Its not clear yet how the game will play or even what genre it classifies as, but as the name suggests it will be based around Nintendo’s Mii avatars.
Nintendo will work with DeNa in developing Miitomo and will develop their next four smartphone titles with DeNa, releasing all planned titles by March 2017. Nintendo director Shigeru Miyamoto said “DeNA will help operate the smartphone games, while Nintendo will focus on ways to guide users to its hardware.”
Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima confirmed the follow-up titles will be pay-to-download and not free-to-download like Miitomo.
Miitomo was expected in 2015 but Nintendo are aiming for a March 2016 release.
