Remember a little while ago we told you that Nintendo was planning on remastering some classic titles from their back catalogue, and releasing them on the Wii U? Well the first batch of Game Boy Advance titles are finally available!
Nintendo could hardly have chosen a better three titles to kick things off with, either. Cult strategy title Advance Wars was one of the first true system-sellers for the Game Boy Advance, whilst Metroid Fusion might be one of the best iterations in the franchise’s history. Finally, there’s Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga – whilst the duo would normally need no introduction, this title was the first in the quirky ‘Super Mario RPG’ line, and could well surprise long-time Super Mario fans who haven’t played it before.
These three are all out on the Wii U eShop right now, and cost $8 a piece. Is this a little steep for titles that are well over ten years old? Perhaps, but buyers shouldn’t worry about getting their money’s worth – they’ve aged just fine, and can easily provide dozens of hours of entertainment each.
There’s more to come, too. Kirby & The Amazing Mirror and WarioWare Inc.: Mega Microgame$! will both be available on the 10th April for $7; Super Mario Bros. 3, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity and Golden Sun will be available on 17th April for $5, $7 and $8 respectively, and Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3 will be released on April 24th for $8. Unfortunately for handheld aficionados there’s no sign of these titles getting a 3DS release just yet.
