The Legend of Zelda’s Link, one of Nintendo’s most famous characters, could have been a woman. Well, kind of.
A recent art book for Hyrule Warriors, a hack and slash game based in the Legend of Zelda universe, shows designs for various ‘original’ characters.
Included is a ‘girl version of Hero Link’ called ‘Linkle,’ which can be seen in the image above that is from GoNintendo. Link is the main protagonist of the Legend of Zelda series. She is featured on a page called ‘previously unseen rejected characters.’
Nintendo and ‘Linkle’
The book describes the character in Japanese lettering hat can be loosely translated as ‘little sister-like.’ Some people have confused the Japanese letter as ‘daughter’ and incorrectly believed that the character is Link’s daughter.
You shouldn’t really consider this character as Link’s sister because Koei Tecmo, the game’s developers, aren’t trying to rewrite the Legend of Zelda universe.
