UPDATED: Following further What Mobile enquiries, LG said the Nexus 4 had met with great interest and could currently be “readily purchased” at various retailers with full availability listed at LG.com.

Delays in getting LG Nexus 4s ordered from the Google Play Store out to customers are reportedly not due to the manufacturers.

Some customers who ordered the Nexus 4 before Christmas found their orders missed the shipping window given by Google Play. Google UK and Ireland managing director Dan Cobley apologised in mid-December and said supplies from the manufacturer were scarce and erratic, Android Central  reported.

However LG officials have been quoted in Korean news outlet Chosun IIbo as saying production was proceeding as planned at its Pyeongtaek plant in South Korea, and denied any supply issues, the Vergereported.

What Mobile’s readers themselves have had issues ‘  one reader  ordered the Nexus 4 on December 5th and as of January 12, did not appear to have received the device.

The Nexus 4 is available elsewhere, with LG’s Twitter account  advising  O2 and Carphone Warehouse had the phone in supply. LG said due to global demand, Google had some stock issues at launch but that these were improving every day.

What Mobile is awaiting comment from Google.
