Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch product listing leaks ahead of schedule, full specs and price revealed

Motorola’s exciting Android Wear smartwatch, the Moto 360, isn’t supposed to hit shelves until September 9th. It seems that nobody told US retail giant Best Buy that, though, as it went and listed the product on its website on Sunday.

The listing was of course removed hastily, but the internet never forgets. Eagle-eyed watchdogs (if you’ll excuse the mixed animal metaphors) managed to grab a screenshot of it before Best Buy could hit the ‘delete’ key, and we now know just about everything there is to know about the wearable.

Its face is a 1.5-inch LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 290 pixels for a PPI of 205, protected by a screen made of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

On the inside it’s got a heart-rate monitor, pedometer and Bluetooth 4.0, and it’s compatible with all devices running Android 4.3 and up.

Its case is stainless steel with a plastic back, and it comes with a dock and charger included.

We also now know the price – for the US at least. Best Buy had it listed at $249.99. Whilst we would love to take that at the straight exchange rate value of £149.99, it’s more likely it’ll be around the £199.99 mark when it makes its way to the UK.

We also can’t help but be a little disappointed by the DPI. Anything under 300 PPI is usually noticeably pixelated on a larger display – hopefully it won’t be as prominent on such a small screen. Gorilla Glass is definitely a plus, though – a wristwatch which picks up dozens of little bumps and nicks every week is the perfect application for the technology.

It’s hardly a surprise that it needs Android 4.3 Jellybean-enabled devices to pair with, but that does mean that if you’re rocking an older device you’ll need to upgrade it before taking the wearable plunge.

The Moto 360 is expected to be properly launched at a Motorola event on September 4th in Chicago, so be sure to check back on that date for all of the formalities.
