Last night we hosted our 10th annual What Mobile awards in London! We had a fantastic evening catching up with so many industry colleagues and we’d like to thank everyone that came out, and all the fans that voted in our awards this year! And a special thank you to the magnificent Truphone, the headline sponsors of the WMAs. Thanks also to our gold sponsors, Square Trade and Mobile Phones Direct. And last but certainly not least, a big thanks to our silver sponsors, Asda and Buy Mobiles!

The What Mobile Awards evening was hosted by the hilarious Paul Chowdhry, who warmed up the crowd with a brilliant act. Then it was on to our first award of the evening for best camera phone. Samsung’s brilliant Galaxy S4 took the prize. Following on from that, Nokia’s Lumia 520 took the award for budget phone. Congrats to both!

Then it was time for the specialist phone award. Doro had something to celebrate, with its Phone Easy 612 coming out on top. After that the Samsung Galaxy S4 made a triumphant return, winning the best smartphone category. It was the tablet’s turn after that, with Apple’s iPad Mini taking the prize. Well done to all our winners.

Samsung claimed its third award of the night in the best manufacturer category, and then the guys from Geek Squad took home an award for best phone repair. After that it was time for the insurance provider award, which Mobile Insurance took home! Then Mazuma, having survived much of Chowdry’s humour on iPhone trade-ins, won the award for best recycling service.

Customer support? O2 came out on top, followed by Mobile Fun for accessory retailer. Next up were our two retailer awards, one for online, one for in-store. Congrats to Mobile Phones Direct and Carphone Warehouse that won their respective categories!

Next up was virtual network operator. Virgin took home the prize for this one! EE then won the award for best network operator. Well done to the both of them for beating out two hotly-contested categories.

And finally, our two choice awards. First up was reader’s choice, which was awarded to none other than the HTC One. A huge congratulations to HTC for the victory. Following on from that, we awarded the What Mobile Awards editors choice to the Sony Xperia Z!

Again, a huge congrats to all the winners and a big thanks to everyone who came out. We’ll see you next year for the What Mobile Awards 2014!
