The Microsoft Surface tablet is set to launch on the 26th October running Windows 8 RT version, with pre-orders now open in the UK. Microsoft claims it will deliver all ordered tablets by 30th October at the latest.

Microsoft has announced UK pricing for the Microsoft Surface tablet, with three variants on offer. The tablet itself comprises a 10.6-inch display with 1366 x 768-pixel resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio. Powered by the Nvidia Tegra T30 processor and backed by 2GB of RAM, you’ll be able to get a claimed 8 hours of battery life in mixed use.

It’s possible to pre-order the Surface in eight countries worldwide, including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, as well as the United Kingdom and the United States.

Pricing varies by location, with the three versions on offer here in the UK starting with the entry-level 32GB version without Black Touch Cover costing £399 (inc. VAT). The same model with Black Touch Cover costs £479 (inc. VAT). The high-end 64GB version with Black Touch Cover will set you back £559 (inc. VAT).

If you want to add a little colour to your Microsoft Surface then you’ll have to add an additional £99 to your order, or £109 (inc. VAT) for the Surface Type Cover which incorporates the keyboard. So, if you want the overall package then you’ll need to pay out some £668 (inc. VAT), which is certainly a premium price for a tablet in the current climate.
