Micromax unveils 5-inch Canvas Turbo, UK launch possible

Micromax isn’t a name we’re very familiar with. In fact it’s hard not to write it without accidentally typing the name of another big tech company. But it turns out that Microso– Micromax is a big deal in India. Actually, it’s the country’s second biggest phone company after Samsung.

Now it looks like it could be making moves on the UK. The company has launch its latest smartphone, the Canvas Turbo in its home turf. It’s also set to hit Russia in December. If successful, then the outfit has said it would see release in Europe.

The Turbo is a 5-inch phone running a 1.5GHz MediaTek chip. That’s not quite in the range of the Snapdragon chips that run most Android phones, but should keep the cost down. It runs Android 4.2.1 and has 2GB of RAM.

Elsewhere there’s 13MP camera on the back with a 5MP snapper on the front. 16GB of storage is included (no memory card slot, though), and a 2000mAh battery.

In India it goes for around £200. That would be an attractive price over here, we’re sure you’d agree.

Keep your eyes on this one, then.
