After accidentally listing the product on the Italian website, LG has today officially announced their newest mid-range handset, the LG Q8.
The handset has very similar hardware to last years V20, while the appearance reminds us of the G5. Inside is a Snapdragon 820 and 4GB RAM. The body is full aluminium with a dual-camera sensor on the back and fingerprint reader underneath. This is an upgrade from the lesser LG Q6, which only features a single sensor rear shooter. It’s footprint is smaller than the V20, with a 5.2-inch Quad HD display and secondary display sat just above. Much like the V20, we expect this to be used for glancing at notifications without needing to unlock the device and quick selection of apps. A USB-C jack on the bottom provides connectivity and a quad-DAC has been included for improved sound quality. The full specs can be found below:

In many ways, the LG Q8 could be a more lucrative buy than the G6. If users are after a quality audio experience but don’t need an 18:9 Full Vision display or the marginal performance upgrade offered by a Snapdragon 821, this could make for a sensible purchase. Given that LG is marketing this as a mid-tier device, it’s likely to be far cheaper than the G6.
The LG Q8 will launch in select European markets this week, though price is yet to be confirmed. It is also expected to launch in Asia shortly after.
