The LG G5 will have that slide off bottom to make room for modular accessories.

It was one of the first rumours heard about the new LG G5 and now it seems even more of a reality with a plausible reason. That slide off magic slot will not only make removable batteries a reality, but it will also give the G5 some new attachments, Gundam Wing or Transformers anyone?

According to the conveyor belt of tasty leaks, Evan Blass, LG will not only announce the G5 as the Korean manufacturer plans to reveal the G5 as a modular handset with plug-in module add-ons. Which basically means you can attach things to the G5 to soup up the battery, camera etc. Blass says they will all be announced as “G5 and friends.” The attachments will be controlled by an app known as LG Friends Manager.

LG will apparently only show off two add-ons; a battery grip for photography and a digital audio chip (DAC) to improve audio quality. The battery grip was already leaked as seen above and will allow users to configure manual settings with physical buttons instead of doing it on-screen. It’ll also come with 1100 mAh of battery to give the phone some extra juice.

The DAC LG worked with high-end consumer electronics maker band and Olufsen to develop LG Hi-Fi Plus. Apart from enhancing sound quality  it’ll also enhance audio from other Android devices that routes through it.
