LG is joining the likes of ZTE to launch its own Firefox OS phone, with the LG Fireweb. If you’re expecting something special with the Fireweb then you might want to look away, as it stays true to Firefox OS’ promise to be cheap and cheerful.
The 4-inch LG Fireweb is slightly more advanced than its competition in the Firefox OS marketplace, with a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 480 x 320 resolution and 4GB of expandable storage — but you’re also paying slightly over the odds for it. Whilst Firefox OS has promised to keep phones cheap, the LG Fireweb is actually more expensive than LG’s cheapest Android device on the network Fireweb is launching on. The LG Optimus L3 II will set you back $399 BRL ($184) on Vivo Brazil, whereas the Fireweb will cost you $449 BRL ($207).
You do get a Firefox OS first thanks to the inclusion of a 5-megapixel rear facing snapper, with all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a smartphone — including autofocus and an LED flash.
