Lenovo has announced that it is bringing the ZUK Z1 smartphone to international markets.
ZUK is a brand new smartphone manufacturer fresh out of China which has recently received heavy backing from Lenovo. Previously, the company only had one device available in China, the ZUK. Now, they intend to move into international markets with the release of the upcoming ZUK Z1. The variant will be similar to the model currently available in China, with the notable exception of a differing operating system. The ZUK Z1 will run on Cyanogen V12.1. rather than the modified Android Lollipop 5.1.1 which was tailored for Chinese markets.
Internally, it’s a solid device with plenty of top-level specifications. The device will use a Snapdragon 801 processor, which is getting a little old but still a very powerful chip. It also has 3GB RAM which should help with multitasking and intensive use. The cameras are also a major talking point, with a Sony 13 megapixel rear camera and 8 megapixel front camera. Selfie lovers should be more than happy with this one. The screen resolution is also fairly high, with a 5.5 inch 1080p panel equating to roughly 400 pixels per inch. The main party trick of the device is the battery, which comes in at a whopping 4100mAh. Other goodies include a fingerprint sensor, USB-C and 64GB internal memory.
The Chinese version costs around £182, which is very cheap considering the internal specifications. Lenovo plan to announce more about the device tomorrow, though don’t expect it to be that cheap if it arrives in the UK.
