Despite disappointing us in the past with its Windows offerings, it seems Lenovo has learnt from its mistakes as it returns with its slimmest and lightest tablet yet.

After unveiling the impressive Vibe Z2 Pro phablet last month, Lenovo is continuing its new tradition of launching sleek Android devices – this time in the form of the Tab S8.

At $199 ( £120), Lenovo’s newest slate is its cheapest yet. What’s even more impressive is that the Tab S8’s specs look darn good for what can only be viewed as an entry-level device.

As you may have guessed by its name, the S8 has an 8 inch display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. Inside the slate is a quad-core Intel Z3745 Atom processor and a 4290 mAh battery which, according to Lenovo, can run for up to seven hours on a full charge.

As we mentioned before, the Tab S8 is a considerably slim and lightweight device. Weighing in at 295g, it is only slightly heavier than the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. Whereas, it’s 7.9mm depth makes it thinner than an iPad. Overall, it is definitely one of the lightest and thinnest tablets in its category.

The Tab S8 will come with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and will be available from Lenovo’s website later this month. Chances are it will be on show at IFA alongside the company’s Vibe Z2 Pro.
