The Last of Us wins game of the year at DICE awards

Zombie survival game The Last of Us was the big winner at the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences annual D.I.C.E. awards, taking 10 prizes including the coveted game of the year award.

Other award winners on the night included Grand Theft Auto 5, Bioshock Infinite and Fifa 14.  Mobile game of the year went to Plants vs Zombies 2.

The event, which is viewed as the Oscars of the gaming world, took place in Las Vegas and was broadcasted live via Twitch.tv.

“Tonight’s big winner,  The Last of Us, is a prime example of how today’s modern video game studios expertly blend art, game play, and storytelling to transcend the traditional notion of video games,” said  Martin Rae, President of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.
