Jolla is a phone company from Finland. We bet you thought there was only one of those – and those guys aren’t going to be much of a factor anymore. And in the wake of Nokia’s sale, Jolla has revealed the specs for its first smartphone.

So far the phone goes by the same name of its company, and will run its internally-developed, Linux-based Sailfish OS. That’s designed to handle Android apps, so no need to work about fledging support. Under the hood it’s clearly not looking to take on the industry leaders, packing a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon that runs at 1.4GHz. The screen clocks in at 4.5-inch qHD with 960 x 540 resolution. In terms of memory and storage, there’s 1GB of RAM and 16GB of microSD-expandable storage. Both rear and front-facing cameras will be included, operating at 8 MP and 2 MP respectively. The battery is a replaceable 2100mAh.

Nothing to set the world on fire, then, but at least the design is a winner (pictured above). The phone should be launching by the end of 2013, which current pricing pointing towards the £340 mark.
