iPad Pro gets downsized and upgraded

There’s a new iPad Pro and it’s smaller.

Apple have announced the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro, which is a smaller version of the iPad Pro. It will sport the same specs as the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro with the same excellent display and the A9X chipset. With the A9X Apple are claiming the new iPad Pro to be three times more powerful than an Xbox 360.

With what Apple are calling Pro Display, the screen is 40% less reflective with and 25% improved colour saturation.

But what surprised everyone is the true-tone display; the iPad Pro will automatically sense the situation and adjust the screen for better viewing. It will be the first tablet to do this, it’s not clear yet whether the 12.9-inch will also include this but it will most likely do so.

A new weight class

In another surprise there will be a massive 256GB version available for both sizes of the iPad Pro. The Wi-Fi only 9.7-inch variant will be retailing for £499 (32GB), £619 (128GB) and $739 (256GB). The cellular versions will cost you £100 extra. Rose gold will be available, currently unavailable on the 12.9 inch iPad Pro.

Pre-orders start 24th March, with release on the 31st.
