Users have been reporting iOS 10 moisture warnings when their iPhones have been getting wet. Could this be the first step towards waterproofing?

Rumours for the iPhone 7 has been rife and among them is the potential of waterproofing. Waterproofing is present on a variety of rugged handsets, as well as consumer friendly devices such as the Sony Xperia Z5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Active. Apple haven’t gone down the waterproofing route just yet, but there is handy feature in iOS 10 to warn you when water is entering your iPhone.

Users running the iOS 10 beta 2 have discovered that if water gets into the lightning port, it will serve you a warning to remove the cable at once. The prompt is to prevent any further damage, as water damage can be manageable, compared to a full on conducted electric shock to the system.

The feature has so far been confirmed by users running iOS 10 beta 2 on the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE. Apple has yet to confirm the iOS 10 moisture warning feature.

The new feature will make the new iPhone 7 more durable if Apple decide to not include any waterproofing for its next flagship.
