Indian mobile manufacturer Xolo is prepping the launch of what is reportedly the world’s lightest smartphone.
Sources have told the Times of India (TOI) that the company’s first Windows Phone device – expected next month – will be an ultra-light handset that will form part of Xolo’s Win series of smartphones.
What’s more, the device – which is expected to weigh in at a little under 100 grams – will be a budget handset catered to meet the requirements of the Indian market.
TOI adds that the Xolo Win smartphone will sport a 4.7-inch screen and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 200-8212 quad-core processor.
Xolo won’t get to to grab the record for being the first Indian manufacturer to release a Windows Phone device, however, as that honour has already been claimed by its rival Micromax – which released two budget devices containing Microsoft’s now-free OS yesterday.
According to TOI, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini still holds the record for being the lightest smartphone at 107 grams, followed by the Apple iPhone 5S at 112 grams and HTC Desire 500 at 123 grams.
Earlier this month, Xolo released its newest mid-range handset, the Q1200 (pictured above), online in India.
