Huawei’s Drive Thru Press Event gave What Mobile unprecedented access to some of its top products
Huawei gave What Mobile an opportunity to test drive the new Huawei Mate 40 Pro at a drive-through press event.
Ahead of the company’s ‘Golden Weekend’, Huawei aimed to deliver with its first socially distanced press event in months with a unique format.
The Huawei Mate 40 Pro is the company’s latest flagship device and according to Huawei UK and Ireland marketing director Winston Eavis, “the device we were never supposed to make”.
Nonetheless, the Mate 40 range was announced on October 22 and features a 6.76-inch 1344 x 2772 screen with curved edges and a 90Hz refresh rate.
The Mate 40 Pro features a 50MP main camera with a 20MP ultra-wide lens and a 12MP periscope lens. This comes with OIS and 5x optical zoom along with a 13MP dual-lens camera and a 3D depth sensor on the front of the device.
With a strong emphasis on moviemaking, visitors were encouraged to create their own movies using the many features on the Mate 40 Pro at the event.
The storyboard feature allows for dynamic movie-making and the vendor took things up a notch when introducing the tracking shot feature which tracks subjects without having to move the camera.
FreeBuds Studio headphones
Huawei also allowed visitors the opportunity to use its new FreeBuds Studio over-ear headphones which will retail for £300.
The headphones are the company’s first-ever over-ear design and come with a four-channel, dual-mode and dual connection. This allows users to connect to two devices without needing to disconnect and reconnect.
According to Huawei, the new headphones boast 48kHz wide frequency high-resolution sound and an audio transmission rate of up to 960kbps.
We were able to test the ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) capabilities of the headphones and it did not disappoint.
The headphones offer three ANC modes including a voice mode and an awareness mode which will allow its users to stay aware of their surroundings and have clear conversations without having to remove the headphones.
A full rundown of the event and the Huawei Mate 40 review will be available in the next issue of Mobile News Magazine.
