HTC One X 5 to be the Google Nexus 5 smartphone?

Is Google about to launch its next smartphone? The company tends to work on a regular yearly basis and with the current Nexus almost a year old it could be so.  So much so, the Google Nexus 5 as it’s being called, is being rumoured not to be a Samsung this time around but an HTC smartphone.

Google doesn’t make its own phones; it re-brands devices made by others. So it should be with the Google Nexus 5, which is thought to be the HTC One X 5 in a new jacket and may well look something like our mockup photo above.

If the HTC One X 5 doesn’t mean much to you at this point, then you may know it as the much rumoured HTC Droid Incredible X.

We’ve only one source for this rumour at present but they’ve backed up the claim with a few choice facts. For starters, the Google Nexus 5 will sport the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, providing bug fixes have been ironed out in time.

It will come with a 5-inch display that will be capable of handling 1080p video with ease – not an easy task for a screen of this size.

We can also look forward to a Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM and a rather whopping 64GB of internal storage. Other features we hope to see are a 12-Megapixel camera, 2-Megapixel front-facing camera, 4G LTE connectivity and 2500mAh battery.

What do you think? Does it sound too good to be true? If it is real, is a 5-inch display what you want from your next smartphone? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
