HTC launches Desire X entry-level Android phone

Continuing its run of great smartphone launches this year, HTC has announced the launch of the HTC Desire X. This smart looking handset is designed to sit below HTC’s flagship One range and provide great features and usability at a lower price, making it an ideal choice for first-time smartphone buyers.

Built around a 4-inch screen, the HTC Desire X is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and an impressive 768MB of memory. 4GB of internal storage provides basic file storage for your photos, music, videos and apps. And you can easily upgrade storage to as much as 32GB via the built-in MicroSD card reader.

Extra features include a 5-Megapixel camera with auto focus, LED flash and a BSI sensor for snapping photos and recording video. And audio fans will be pleased to hear that Beats Audio technology is also built-in to the HTC Desire X, letting you enjoy your songs, movies and games with impressive power and clarity when using Beats Audio headphones.

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system runs the show and you even get 25GB of free Dropbox cloud storage included for backing up your photos and videos. And for getting online and sharing files the HTC Desire X also packs 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 built-in as standard.

Pricing is still to be announced, but the HTC Desire X will be on sale mid-September.
