Samsung launches Galaxy Camera

It’s not just standard smartphones and tablets that Samsung announced at IFA 2012 in Berlin. It has also launched one of the most unique cameraphones we’ve seen with the Samsung Galaxy Camera – an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean-powered camera that packs some great features to rival other smartphone cameras.

While the Galaxy Camera could technically be branded a smartphone, just one look at it confirms that it’s actually a point and click camera with smartphone connectivity and software bolted on. And it is this that makes this ‘smart camera’ such a powerfully unique proposition for keen photography fans.

Although the 16-Megapixel sensor can’t match the stunning 41-Megapixel offering of Nokia’s PureView 808, it is the 23mm wide angle lens and 21x optical zoom that gives it the edge over standard cameraphones. Making it easy to capture high-quality images, you can then view the results on the huge 4.77-inch HD LCD screen.

It’s not just photos that the Galaxy Camera excels at. You can also record 1080p Full HD video at 30 frames per second and output the results to your HDTV via HDMI. And with its choice of 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi connectivity, the Galaxy Camera even lets you share photos online quickly and easily.

And thanks to the intuitive Android 4.1 interface, you can install all your favourite photo and video editing apps to tweak your files and then upload all your new files to Facebook, Twitter and more with ease. As one of the most unique cameras we’ve ever seen, we cant wait to put the Galaxy Camera through its paces.
